55

It's that time again? At the end of this week. At 4:56am. I'm going to be 55 years old? Seems like only a few weeks ago I was still in high school comtemplating what I was going to do, how I was going to do it. Now it's 37 years later and that is still the question? Time well wasted? Boy was I ever wasted for a big chunck of it! How long was it? Probably only 6 or 7 years. So many fine folks I met back then and so few left. Mary Jane Handy hitched to Dallas to see the Stones and wandered in to Lees Park after the show to spend the night. She was found the next morning. Hacked, mutilated, dismembered, raped with a very large knife. My friends Frank  Loch and Vickie Letts sent me the newpaper clipping while I was in basic training in Texas. And that was only the beginning. It just got more scenseless and chaotic as time went on.

Things I might have said

once upon a time.
The wife was watching an old Chinese Jackie Chan movie last night and at the end of the movie he used a line. "Generals? All I see are clowns"
That line really struck a nerve and caused a case of Deja Vu. Thirty some odd years ago I said something very similar to an NCO who was berateing me and threating insorbordination charges for not showing respect to Officers. "When I said to him "Officers? I don't see no stinking Officers. All I see is clowns."
I was full of piss and vinegar in those days and said and did a lot of things that got me in serious trouble. But to deny that I was ever that way is Bull Shit complete and utter Bull Shit. Clinton was right, in a legalistic sense, when he said he didn't inhale. Because he SUCKS hard and deep, always has, always will. Just the way his Momma raised him.

One Classy Lady, A Texan

Farrah Fawcett has been in the news of late. She has cancer. Anyway I've been a fan of her's since she did that TV movie "The Burning Bed". Didn't really pay much mind to that series she had done earlier. Then there was that PlayBoy movie she did where she showed us her artistic talents and exposed a deep sensitivity and insecurity.
Anyway, she was at a parking garage for a doctors appointment and there were photographers everywhere taking pictures. She showed so much cool and class by going up to an SUV they were sticking cameras out the widnows of and calmly asked them not to print the unflattering pictures please. Just the better ones. The guy in the front seat showed her the pictures on his digital camera and said heres what I got. You like this one? Farrah said yes. That's the one I'll print then. Farrah said you guys always print the unflattering ones. Don't do that please. The guy promised he wouldn't. Whether he does or not who knows? But Farrah showed real class.
